Nassau Alumnae Chapter is committed to enriching the lives of those in Nassau County (NY).  We will provide the residents of Nassau County with programs and services tailored to their needs.  In realizing the mission of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Nassau Alumnae Chapter provides many public service initiatives through the sorority's Five-Point Programmatic Thrust designed to move our community forward.

  • Nassau Alumnae Chapter's Economic Development Committee is a source for financial guidance throughout our local communities.    The current Economic Development program of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is Financial Fortitude; a process for setting goals, defining them and then developing plans for action and achievement.

  • The Financial Fortitude initiative focuses on strategies for financial planning, budgeting, goal setting, debt management, retirement planning, homeownership, insurance, savings & investments, estate planning, and entrepreneurship.

  • Over the past year, the NAC Economic Development Committee has hosted the NAC Small Business Crawl, the NAC Tax Grievance Clinic and Financial Peace University.  Between the three, the finances and financial knowledge of 16 local businesses and organizations, nearly 50 county homeowners and 10 local families have been fortified.

  • The NAC Health and Wellness Committee works to provide our members as well as our communities with knowledge on how to improve nutritional choices, increase physical activity, and reach and maintain a healthy weight through small, incremental modifications and increased healthy practices.

  • Our 22 dynamic founders participated in the Suffrage March of 1913, just two months after Delta Sigma Theta was established.   This commitment to service through Social Action has remained, keeping the sorority at the forefront of social and political issues for our communities.  Delta Sigma Theta has become recognizable as a force in the movement for equal political, educational, and economic rights for all Black people.  Chapters and members are engaged in a variety of social action activities focused on empowering our communities and protecting the most vulnerable amongst us.

  • The NAC Social Action Committee has established programs designed to build relationships with our local politicians and public officials in efforts to provide effective advocacy on behalf of our communities.  Similarly, our goals include ensuring that our voices are heard by elected officials to enact changes to unfair legislative practices and to have a seat at the table to provide input for decisions that affect our neighborhoods.  Empowering the community through informational sessions, workshops, movies, and more engaging and interactive activities is always a huge for the Social Action team.
